Love God – Love His People – Live Life – Extend His Kingdom.  That was the vision of Oakhill when it began in 2000 with a handful of families led by Pastor Louis and Lizette du Piesanie. Since that time, the vision has remained the same as our church has grown from strength to strength.

We are a church fueled by great faith and we’ve seen God do things that only He can do – lives have been transformed, marriages restored, families healed and hearts made whole. And as God continues to increase the size of our platform, we are aggressively pursuing opportunities to reach more and more people with the life-saving message of the Gospel in both our city and our world.

Through the use of preaching, worship, and creativity, we strive to present the timeless message of Jesus Christ in a clear and fresh way.  Oakhill is far more than just a Sunday “church service” – we are a group of people who are committed to Jesus Christ and to one another. “Family” is not only something embedded in our church name, it is who we are and what we live out.

Louis and Lizette du Piesanie have always had a dream of a church where people can feel welcome, be encouraged and equipped for every day life. In Louis’ own words, “Since our first church service held in 2000, my love for the local church has just grown. My personal vision is to see people live out their full destiny in Christ. I believe that your destiny can only be lived out when believers are part of a church family. Within “family” there is room to learn, grow, make mistakes and to be accountable towards one another. Family life is not something we should only strive to do on Sundays – it is something that we have to make part of our daily living.”

Today, Oakhill is far more than just a Sunday “church service” – we are a group of people who are committed to Jesus Christ and to one another. “Family” is not only something embedded in our church name, it is who we are and what we live out. Each church family has their own unique ‘flavour’ or characteristics, just like any family. In some families you can gulp juice straight from the bottle (horror!) and in other families this is frowned upon. Every family is different. (Some families are more different than others …)

In our family, it’s all about God. He made us and we’re here for Him. He’s at the head of our family table and no one displaces Him. Here, relationships are non-negotiable: whatever happens, we’re still family. It’s a really safe place to be. We allow people to be weird. Weird is good. Each family member has their place and function in the family or body. If you’re a hand, the eyeball may be a bit weird to you; but without the eye, you’re in the dark. We love family to get involved in family activities – serving each other and getting to know one another.  Our family is wonderful and loving and fun but we also need to function outside the family. God didn’t place us in this world to flock together in a holy huddle like ants in a sugar bowl. He placed us here to reach out to His lost sheep – the ones His heart breaks for.

If you’re visiting, take a look around you and if you feel like you’ve come home, or if you’d like Oakhill to be your home, contact the church office to find out about the next membership course. This course will tell you a bit more about how our family functions and how to be involved in Oakhill. If Oakhill is not your family, keep looking. God will add you to a church family somewhere. He wants you to be in His body, not wandering out somewhere all by yourself. Feel free to contact our church office on +27 21 979 2803 or e-mail infohub@oakhill.org.za

Dear Parent

Freeway Teens is our high school (Gr. 8 – 12) ministry.

At Oakhill we believe in investing in the next generation as they are our leaders of tomorrow. We want them to have a place they can call home. A people they can call family. A platform where they can encounter God and grow in their identities.

Freeway Teens comprises of three elements:

Freeway Teens Connect is where our teens connect with their peers around coffee at the Oakhill Coffee Lounge on a Sunday from 17h15 – 18h00. We then join the young adults for the Oakhill evening service from 18h00 – 19h00. All teens and friends are welcome!

Our Freeway Teens Events are open events that happen throughout the year, depending on the local school calendars. Last year we had a very successful Gamer’s Night and a Summer Pool party. So keep an eye out for these not-to-be-missed events during the year.

Then we also have our Freeway Teens Mentoring which happens one Friday a month during our Oakhill mentoring week. This is an opportunity for the teens to grow in God in a more intentional and smaller group setting. Since there are resources involved, this is not an open event and teens need to sign up for this by paying the yearly mentoring fee of R270.

For more information on Freeway Teens or to sign up your teen, you can email us at freewayteens@oakhill.org.za

Dear Parent

Thank you for joining us at Oakhill Kids. We believe that even very young children can connect with God in very deep and meaningful ways. It is therefore my goal to help children encounter Jesus in a personal way so they will grow up with His teachings firmly implanted in their hearts.

We look forward to working with your children and giving them a meaningful and enjoyable experience.

For more about Oakhill Kids and our program on Sundays, or other exciting events, please chat to our Oakhill Kids team or contact me at the church office at 021-979-2803 or email me at ilsee@oakhill.org.za.

We thank you for allowing us to share the love of Jesus with your children.
Blessings and Love

What to expect at Oakhill Kids?

Each Sunday we have a great time together as we learn more about the Bible in fun and exciting ways such as singing, hearing stories, playing games, making crafts and more.

At Oakhill Kids we have a home-grown curriculum that covers the whole Bible and life application in a 4 year cycle.

General Information
1. Oakhill Kids runs simultaneously with our morning service. Please note that there is no Oakhill Kids during our evening service.
2. The safety and security of your children is of the utmost importance to us. As such, you and your children will receive identification stickers upon check-in prior to the start of the service. When collecting your children after the service, your sticker needs to be presented to gain access to their venue. You are required to remain on campus for the duration of the time that your children are at Oakhill Kids.
For your convenience, we have created Check-in counters which allow you to check in your children quickly and efficiently.
Check-in will close 15 minutes after the start of each service. Please come early to have sufficient time to check your child into Oakhill Kids while still having enough time to get into the Auditorium before the service starts.

Oakhill Kids Age Groups
Children between the ages of 2 and 11 years are all welcome at Oakhill Kids. We believe in age specific teaching, worship and fun.

Route 67

Route 67 is our ministry for kids in Grade 6 & 7. They have a special spot in the auditorium, where they all sit together and worship. After worship, they proceed to the coffee lounge for some small group time. For more information email 67@oakhill.org.za.

First Time Visitor Questions

Is my child safe?
We take safety very seriously. We also have a check-in and check-out system that ensures that only the person who dropped off a child (or his/her assigned representative) will be able to collect the child.

Where do I go?
We want to make your visit as easy as possible. When you arrive at Oakhill enter through the main entrance / Curro Castle and once you’re in the school, proceed towards the right where you will find our registration stations. Our volunteers are happy to assist you and your family in any way possible. If you are at all lost or confused, ask one of the friendly ushers / volunteers.

What happens when we register?
You will need to give us just a few details in order to register your child. Your child will be given a sticker with their name on it along with a number. This number corresponds to a security tag that you will be given to keep. You will only be able to collect your child if you present this security tag with the number that corresponds to your child’s nametag to ensure his/her safety and your peace of mind.

How will I know if something happens to my child while I am attending the service?
While our awesome team are experts at making children feel safe, comfortable and happy, if your child is unhappy, doesn’t settle or there is any reason we would need to get hold of you, the number corresponding to your child’s security tag, or their name, will appear on the screen in the main auditorium indicating that we would like you to come to Oakhill Kids.

What will my child be doing while I am in the service?
Your child will be learning a Bible story, playing games, engaging in really fun, exciting worship, learning memory verses, doing crafts and much more.

We want your experience at Oakhill to be a great one, so we let you set the pace. Want to hang back and observe for a while? No problem. Want to meet a few people and learn more about us? There are lots of friendly faces ready to help. Either way, you’ll be greeted by a warm environment, great music, and teaching that will make you think.

Come and join us at our 9am or 6pm services. There are Mothers Room facilities available with a live feed of the service, as well as children’s church for ages 3 -12 years in the AM service.

So what can you expect from a Sunday Service:

– Casual atmosphere

– Thought-provoking messages based on the Bible

– Live worship music

– Fun teaching for your kids

– Friendly people who hang out & chat weekly in Life Groups

– Opportunities to help others.

Oakhill is a growing church. It’s a place that, if you wanted to, you could slip in and slip out each weekend, and not be noticed. But we believe Jesus intended more for us as His church.  We know what God is doing here is special, and we want you to have a part in that. We want you to connect with the people you go to church with and build relationships and community.  At Oakhill we emphasize participation. And there are several ways to join in with what we’re doing here.

Life Groups are how we build community at Oakhill. Being a part of a Life Group is the best way to help a big church feel smaller. You’ll connect with people in a similar stage of life, or with similar interests. Together, you’ll build community and foster spiritual growth. Whether you are reading through a Bible Study together, serving at church or sharing a common interest, our Life Groups are where we grow together in our relationship with God and His church.

Ladies mentoring is about a lifestyle surrounded with vital relationships that are life changing. It’s like life groups, but only for women and its where we commit on a yearly basis to meet monthly in our groups and once a week with our prayer partners. We share the Word, pray together and encourage one another, thereby creating a safe place to enjoy God and one another.

PLEASE NOTE: Submissions have closed for 2017

Men love a challenge…
Men are strong willed…
Men are leaders…
At Man Alive, we intentionally walk with God and deliberately build relationship with one another. Come and live life together as we camp, hunt, bike, eat and do life.

PLEASE NOTE: Submissions have closed for 2017

Freeway Teens Mentoring is a platform where our high schoolers (Gr. 8 – 12) have the opportunity to grow in God and in their identities in a more intentional small group environment. They gather together one Friday a month in groups lead by our young adult leaders, where they discuss the Word, pray for one another and encourage each other on the journey called life. So let’s make that journey count together.

At Oakhill, we pledge to continue to be good soil for your generosity. We exist to see peoples lives changed and communities transformed and we would love for you to join us in that mission. Over 70% of people who give at Oakhill, give online. Have a look at the information below on the different ways you can support this ministry.
